Jennifer Rice

Jennifer Afdahl Rice has over 10 years of experience working with nonprofit and social enterprises assisting them with their financial needs. Her efforts in Tanzania and Ghana with local microentrepreneurs inspired her to pursue a career in small business lending in Chicago. In Chicago, she worked primarily with entrepreneurs in disadvantaged communities on the south side as a loan officer at ACCION Chicago and Harris Bank. At ACCION Chicago, she created and implemented new loan initiatives, including early financing to more than 100 female, independent sales consultants.

Further pursuing her interests in community and economic development, Jennifer received her MA from the University of Chicago—School of Social Service Administration in 2002 with a focus in nonprofit administration. Jennifer then moved to the Bay Area where she served as a Lending Manager at RSF Social Finance to provide loans nationwide that promote social and environmental impact, especially independent and charter schools. Her professional experience ranges from business development to underwriting and relationship management, but her personal interests are rooted in building strong communities. Jennifer is now a Business Development Officer for NCB Capital Impact’s lending team, committed to providing financing solutions for West Coast charter schools, serving low- and moderate-income communities.
